  • Give your home a fresh coat of paint. Depending on your theme, you can choose a white, neutral cool or warm colors.

  • Add or display plants or pictures around your home.


  • Make full use of your wall. You can have shelves that runs around your room. Display books, pictures plants or your collection on it. If you live in small apartment, this will helps to draw the eyes towards the ceiling instead of only focusing on your floor furniture.


  • Use mirrors to make your room look larger.


  • Replace your current curtains. If your curtains have been around for ages, it would be a good idea to replace them to suit your new theme. Alternatively you can use blinds.


  • Use the right lighting. Choosing the right lighting will put life to your home. There are a few types of lamps you can use depending on the intended function. You can opt for a spotlight to focus on a particular object or section of your home. Others includes tungsten, tungsten halogen and fluorescent lamp.


  • If space is an issue for you, you can look for furniture with dual or multi purpose. One idea is to get a chest to act as a coffee table and a storage compartment. Other options are wall mounted storage and swing out rack. Look for furniture or fixtures that are flexible and practical to your home.


  • Paint your wall with scenic landscape that compliment your theme. A landscape with far horizon will make the room look larger.
